Hakutsuru Tan Cho Single Malt Japanese Whisky Mizunara Cask Finish 700ml

An authentic, yet delightfully innovative single malt Japanese whisky created by the renowned sake brewer Hakutsuru, who has brought over 270 years of craftsmanship and tradition to this unique expression. The result is an exquisite and well-rounded whisky, endlessly seductive as it reveals its many layers. It is aptly named after the graceful tan cho crane, a Japanese symbol of good fortune. Distilled and matured in eastern Hokkaido, one of the hallowed grounds of whisky making in Japan, after more than three years in specially selected barrels, it is then finished in casks made of the rare Japanese mizunara oak for its characteristically fresh, forest aromatics, reminiscent of the famed barrel-aged Taru sake.

The production capacity for this whisky is only 3,000 bottles per year!

Maturation: Hakursuru use selected bourbon / sherry / wine / mizunara barrels. Mizunara barrel is for cask finish. Tancho is elaborately produced with the perfect blend of those liquids matured in different barrels. Each is carefully matured at least 3 years.

We unfortunately cannot disclose the distillery name as it's a secret! However, we confirm it is distilled and matured in eastern Hokkaido, one of the hallowed grounds of whisky making in Japan.
