How to make Gyudon

Gyudon is simply beef on rice, served in a bowl.  The meat is cooked in a mixture of soy sauce, mirin and sugar which it gives the dish a sweet flavour.  In Gyudon restaurants in Japan, you can take away as well. It is quick and easy to make. Gyudon is Japanese fast food.

Thinly cut beef is difficult to find in British supermarkets, you may have to visit a local butcher to slice it for you. If you can't get the thin cut beef, you can freeze the beef and then defrost slightly which makes it easier to cut into thin slices.
